oops

totally forgot i had a blog. not like anyone reads it anyway. at any rate, patrick put in his 2 weeks, and since he left, all the shit he’d been dealing with has become my very own. i guess for the most part, the company leaves me alone and lets me do my job, but they’ve also got this propensity towards being..uhh.. overzealous with things. instead of asking if i know how to “manage” linux servers (they don’t need much.. patrick pwned them into submission..) they were going to hire some jackass to “look at them”. this is the same dude that totally fucked up the network in the office during his tenure as the IT for the company. he’s a contract worker. and he sucks. i don’t even know the dude and i don’t like him. also, the president of the co. asked if i could train some guy that’s related to her to be a contract tech support rep. umm.. sure. absolutely.

i’m tired. i want to win the lottery. i want a new car. i think i might buy a volvo in a few months. toyotas’ and hondas’  resell values have skyrocketed because of the fuel price BS. volvos are pretty reliable for the most part, and they depreciate quickly and hit a flat curve, like a lexus. they also almost always have sunroofs and all that good stuff. but yeah. volvo. prolly an 850 or S70.

fuckhead.

Dear Chris:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).  I appreciate knowing how you feel about this important issue.

Our nation consumes over 20 million barrels of oil a day.  With sixty percent of that oil coming from overseas, about $750 million each day is contributed to the nation’s trade deficit.  Our dependency on foreign sources of energy has a serious impact on national security, as rogue nations attempt to manipulate our foreign policy by curtailing our energy supply.  I am concerned about the American people and the future of this country.  I stand on the side of conserving where we can, and at the same time using our best technology to tap our own domestic energy supplies.

Since coming to Congress, I have supported the creation or expansion of 19 wilderness areas which together total more than 900,000 acres in New Mexico.  I have been to ANWR to see the drilling and production operations on other parts of the Arctic Slope, and to meet with locals on both sides of the issue.  After studying the impact of existing production on the environment and wildlife, I believe that by using modern technologies we can produce oil and gas there with a minimal impact to the environment.  The legislation will affect only 2,000 acres out of a 19 million acre area.

For the foreseeable future our nation, specifically our military, needs expanded domestic supplies of oil.  It is time for us to seriously evaluate the most advanced environmentally friendly techniques to explore the vast resource potential in ANWR.  If the U.S. Geological Survey estimates are correct, ANWR reserves contain about 10 billion barrels of oil and will produce approximately 1 million barrels a day.  That is $60 million each day and over $2 billion each year that will not go toward our trade deficit.  Some argue that this amount is insignificant.  However, for comparison, that is about as much oil as is under Texas.

The United States should have a balanced energy policy that fosters greater domestic production of a wide variety of energy resources.  Greater use of renewable and conventional energies, and accelerated research into new energy technologies will help keep our economy growing and lessen our precarious dependence on foreign energy sources.  Any domestic production of oil and gas would be conducted under the most stringent environmental regulations, much more stringent than those standards of many foreign countries.  I believe it is in the nation’s best interest to harvest domestic fuel resources while using the most advanced technology available.

Thank you again for your letter.  I hope you will continue to keep me apprised of the issues most important to you.

Sincerely,

Pete V. Domenici
United States Senator

Here’s a thought— how about researching alternative energy sources? call me a communist but i think that protecting the environment is much, MUCH more important than making oil cheap. it’s not like oil companies wouldn’t mark it up after the fact anyway. this is why i wish it were easier to get elected to office— domenici has been in senate for liek 30 years, unopposed. it’s disgusting that this fool is representing us in the senate. of course, people only see along party lines, regardless of irrepairable damage to our environment committed to line the pockets of special interests.

boulder’s been a lot of fun so far. it’s amazing that i remember where everything is, even after only being to most of the places like 6 or more months ago. we went to celestial seasonings today, and they’re doing rennovation. it’s gonna have a lot more capacity when they finish it.

at any rate, it’s snowed a lot, we went to flagstaff mtn. and saw more snow. all kinds of fun shit.

woot. gonna see if i can get speakeasy to change my ptr record for one of my ip’s to indicate one of the hosts i run– wangsmith. haha.

i think it’s really funny when people don’t comment on a friend’s blog because they have to register. not mine, but someone else’s. it’s not like the owner of the machines where the info is stored (me),  will steal their passwords or anything. shit.

Mr. Bluejeans

almost exactly one year ago, i inherited a few fish. mr. bluejeans, the betta; spike and phoebe, the oscars; and fred, the plecostomus. how did i end up as caretaker of these aquatic creatures? my mom’s best friend, brian, passed away. the betta was the first animal he’d gotten after getting out of the hospital. he’d had diabetes and kidney failure as a result of medication given to him while in the hospital. mr. blue was probably the most resilient fish i’ve ever seen. he’d reached a little over 2 years old, and was still fiesty, acting like a pirahna when you’d feed him, splaying his fins to an imaginary betta (he had a mirror near his tank). it’s really sad when an animal, like a fish, can upset me so much, but i don’t know. it’s just a fish, but it was mister bluejeans. he’d gotten sick, had ick in his tank and ended up with dropsy because of the ick, i’d suspect. he was just laying on the bottom of his tank (5 gallons) for the last couple of days. i’d treated him with maracyn in his tank, but it didn’t help at all. i increased the salinity of the tank just enough to reduce the swelling of his body. i was thinking he looked really awful when i left to take cadie home, and when i got back, he was dead.

poor little guy.
