and i’m totally flabbergasted. granted, it’s not something you learn until you’re at the upper echelon of the organization, but still! at least mormonism is partially straightforward– it’s a cult ahead of its time. it explains all the weird shit outright and people have a choice (really) to follow it or not.

that’s one of the primary reasons i hate religion. people have the ability to use their built-in bullshit detectors to decide whether they want to do something or not…somehow, the notion of humans evolving from humanesque creatures (apes/chimps/etc) is harder to believe than believing that there’s some crazy omnipotent being that watches your (and everyone elses’) every move and arranges the world accordingly..and that somehow, this crazy person/being/whatever has his own magical place in the sky for all the people “he” (not she) determines are worthy. call me crazy, but i have this tendency to believe the things that have..well..factual backing? if i look in the sky, what do i see? stars. i don’t see some crazy goon-eyed bastard staring at me telling me to do shit. stars =! crazy goon-eyed omnipotent thing. if i looked up one day and saw said crazy goon-eyed bastard, i might be willing to adjust my beliefs– but until that moment..no.

at any rate. i’m getting old. i feel old. when i think that i graduated high school 4 years ago, it makes me feel like an old fart. 4 years isn’t a long time, granted, but it’s sufficiently long to make me feel old. BLAH.
