hired.
woot. got hired for the new job today. went in for the interview, which i didn’t think went all that well, left feeling totally unoptimistic. on my way home, stopped by jiffy to talk to keith for a bit, i send a text message to john telling him i think the interview sucked and like 30 seconds later, i get a call asking if i want a job.
now, i just need to wait out the background checking stuff and get myself ready to leave mfi. woot.
migrated and stuff
i got everything migrated from seattle to dallas. performance is already noticibly better. woohoo.
new job? maybe.
i spoke to a friend of mine a month or so ago about a job they had just opened and filled where he works. he didn’t get a chance to tell me before they hired someone but he told me he’d let me know if the new guy leaves. so, yesterday, i got a message from him, letting me know that the guy put in his two weeks and the job should be posted soon. he gave me some details about the work, and frankly, i’m excited to apply. it’ll involve some of what i’ve been doing for the last 5 years or so, along with some new stuff involve CCTV and IP-based CCTV, which should be a lot of fun. the pay is better, the hours are funny (6p-2a) and the benefits are much, much better.
in other news, i’m looking at moving omfgoggles.net/m0unds.net to a different provider as i’ve been having trouble with my node in seattle. there’s another user on it who is using entirely too much in the way of disk i/o, which causes periodic hideous delays in page loading and sql queries. i bought an acct with linode to build out a backup mail server for my personal email, so that was a fun project. i like doing stuff like this, especially with a new, clean box that i can reformat on a whim and reinstall without any problems.
