i had to reset my blackberry for the second time since i got it (like 4 months ago) because it had this insanity-provoking smiley face icon on the home page. i figured out how to replicate it– if i get a message from a contact in blackberry messager and i don’t actually go into the message to read it (i.e. it’s short enough to see it from the messaging screen) and then i perform a “delete prior” on the messaging folder, it doesn’t clear the new message i never read.
