stolen car pt 5.

cadie and i drove down to get the car back today. 30 or so miles from our apartment in albuquerque. got to the towing company, paid the $152.97 and someone showed me out to my car. the guy said that they recovered a white car identical to mine from the same parking lot. seems like the 87-90 camry is still a hot vehicle to steal, unfortunately for me.

the thief(thieves?) removed the stereo by cutting the wiring harness (even though it had a fucking plug that would have likely been just as easy to pull out) and also removed the rear speakers from the car. everything else appears to be intact. the seat was nearly all the way to the dash, and was reclined back quite a bit indicating to me that the thief had to have been extremely short (and likely had a tiny dick as well.) also, it had no gas in it. luckily, the last time i put some fuel in it, i decided to lock the gas cap. i can see that they tried to pry it open but didn’t succeed. defeated by some plastic, bitches.

the drive back to albuquerque was a bummer because it was so fucking hot outside. the car’s a/c died a couple years ago. it made it back from los lunas with nary a problem. i actually feel more bummed now that i got it back than i did when it was stolen. i’m still going to shoot for getting a new car in the next 6-12 months, though. i’m sure my car will still be running when i get rid of it– nothing seems to stop it. i’ve applied a few new security measures that i hope might deter someone from stealing it again– i won’t discuss any of them, of course :) but seriously, if someone defeats all the security measures just to steal my car again, they can have it. i think i might even leave a note with a number to call if they steal it so i can mail the title to them.

stolen car pt 4

last night, i called my friend derek. i used to work with him at zip lube like 4 years ago. he lived in los lunas for a few years, so i figured he’d know at least something about the wrecking yard my car had been towed to. turns out, it’s owned by his father in law’s family. today, derek called me after he’d spoken to his father in law about the car. it turns out, there’s no broken glass on it, and it appeared to have just been driven– not forced. i called the wrecking yard again to find out how much it’s gonna cost to get it out. as of right now, it’s $137. unfortunately, i won’t be able to get it out til wednesday, so i expect that amount to raise to $175 or so by then.

i called the los lunas police department to get the report info about the vehicle. it was actually located on saturday. the way it was located is pretty amusing and totally atypical luck for me. some old lady called to report her car stolen from her house in los lunas. she went driving around with someone and they spotted her car at an apartment complex. she called the police and they showed up and started running the plates and stuff. while they were in the parking lot, the apt mgr came out and said “this car doesn’t belong here, either.” ‘this car’ turned out to be my car. two stolen vehicles on one property. gee. i wonder if maybe the person stealing them lives nearby? maybe?

anyway, i’m going to go with cadie and get the car on wednesday, and i’m going to replace the ignition cylinder and lock, and i’m going to get a club for it also. i think i might start by parking it at my mom’s for a little while, to see if i can keep it from being stolen or having windows smashed in or something.

missing car pt. 3

i received a call yesterday at 12:47PM from Albuquerque Police Department. the woman on the phone asked me if los lunas pd had called me to notify me that they’d located my car. of course, they hadn’t. the lady gave me the number and address of a wrecking company where my car is presently located. the info sent to them by LLPD indicated the car had been located on wednesday, but they hadn’t called me. of course, i’m liable for the vehicle being parked at this wrecking yard and will likely get roped into paying the associated costs. unless of course the car has been in a wreck, in which case i’m going to just send the yard the title to the car and they can do whatever they want with it. i need to call both the yard and los lunas pd tomorrow to get some details about the car and circumstances under which it was located.

i hadn’t been able to play much EVE lately because we’d had war declared on our corp by 2 different alliances and since i work during the day and can’t pay attention to teamspeak for fleet ops, i had to exclude myself. our last wardec expired today and we celebrated by having a conga-line in one of the asteroid belts of our home system.

if this doesn’t illustrate just how much of a dork i am, i don’t know what would.
